McGhee Tyson Airport is a public/military airport located in Alcoa, Tennessee, serving the Knoxville area and was opened in 1937. It is named after United States Navy pilot Charles McGhee Tyson, who was killed in World War I. The airport is currently managed by the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority and operates both commercial and military flights.
